Maharashtra U15 Girls One Win Away From Title

Maharashtra’s U15 girls moved one step closer to lifting the Tier 2 National Football Championship trophy after a composed and disciplined victory over Punjab in the semifinals. Maharashtra took an early lead through a well-worked team move that showed their growing confidence and chemistry. They dominated the match with 61% possession, controlling the pace and limiting Punjab’s attacking opportunities. In a less-known but important detail, this Maharashtra squad includes eight players scouted from tribal regions in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli — areas that were added to the AIFF scouting network only recently. This development shows how widening the talent search can uncover skilled young players from across the country. Punjab struggled to create clear chances, finishing with only two shots on target, while Maharashtra managed seven. The team now heads into the final aiming to win their first Tier 2 title since the competition’s format changed in 2021, carrying strong momentum and growing support.
