Peace Protest Ahead of Norway–Israel Match

Before the match between Norway national football team and Israel national football team in Oct 2025, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the stadium in Oslo to voice their concerns about the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The protesters carried flags, banners and chanted slogans calling for support and peace for Palestinian civilians. Although many described the demonstration as peaceful, authorities prepared carefully: police was deployed in large numbers and later used tear gas to disperse a small group that tried to breach barricades near the stadium. Fans entering the stadium, and watching on screens around the world, witnessed that this big game came under a heavy political atmosphere. A few supporters inside the venue unfurled Palestinian flags while some booed during the Israeli national anthem.

Despite the tension outside, the match went on. On the field, Norway dominated and won 5–0 convincingly. Scores aside, the protest reminded everyone that sometimes football becomes more than just sport, it becomes a platform for real-world issues, hope, and voices seeking justice and peace.
