Fans Clash Stops Tel Aviv City Rivalry Match

The heated football match between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv was cancelled on Sunday night when fans rioted around Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. The game never started because clashes broke out inside and outside the stadium. Supporters in the crowd threw smoke grenades, fireworks, and other dangerous objects toward the pitch and police. Some officers and spectators were injured, and several people were arrested.

The riot made it unsafe for the match to continue, police said it was “a serious disruption,” and they stopped the game just minutes before kickoff to keep everyone safe. Fans who had come expecting an exciting city rivalry match were left disappointed. This event shows how quickly football excitement can turn dangerous when tensions run too high.

Officials now say they will investigate what happened and consider stricter safety plans before the next local rivalry game.
