On March 1, 2026, Mumbai City FC played NorthEast United FC at the Mumbai Football Arena in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025–26 season and the match ended 1–1. Jithin MS from NorthEast United scored first in the 48th minute after a good free kick, giving his team the lead. Then, in the 85th minute, Lallianzuala Chhangte scored for Mumbai City with a header after the goalkeeper saved a shot but couldn’t hold it. Chhangte’s goal was his first of the season, and he was named Player of the Match. Mumbai City had more of the ball with 61 % possession and took 14 shots compared to NorthEast’s 7 shots but both teams had trouble scoring again. With this draw, Mumbai City moved to fourth place with 7 points, helping their hopes of making the playoffs, while NorthEast United stayed at 10th place with only 2 points.
