Everton opened fire first in the 19th minute with Branthwaite's headers but New Castle levelled in the 32nd minute with a deflection from out of the box by Ramsey. However, Everton took the lead again 2 minutes later with a tap in by Beto. Jacob Murphy equalised in the 82nd minute scoring a volley from outside the box but Thierino Barry scored a tap in 1 minute later. New Castle had a chance to equalise with Sandro tonali's volley from outside the box but Jordon Pickford made a world class save to seal the game 3-2 in favour of Everton.
