In a move that could redefine the financial landscape of the domestic game, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) officially opened bids for a new 15-year commercial rights cycle on March 27. The bidding process for the Indian Super Leagueand the Federation Cup has attracted global interest, with industry giants like Genius Sports and FanCode reportedly in the running. The transition comes as the AIFF navigates a leaner budget for the 2025–26 season, currently estimated at ₹24.26 crore. By securing a long-term partner, the federation aims to stabilize league operations and fund massive infrastructure projects, including a proposed ₹2,200 crore investment in regional stadiums. This commercial pivot is seen as a "make-or-break" moment for the professionalisation of the Indian football pyramid.
